Cat Carrier Redesigned
Improving the Model of Cat Carriers
Design Proposal
For our design project surrounding pets, our group decided on the design of a cat carrier and some ways it might be redesigned to facilitate anxious cats who despise the carrier. We are also thinking of ways to redesign the cat carrier to ease examinations during a visit to the veterinarian to keep the cats and veterinary staff safe and stress free.
Interviews
For our interview process we each conducted 2 interviews with cat owners, or people who have cat surrounded in their lives their experience with cat carriers. With this information we were able to see what our interviewees feel about cat carriers and what can be improved.
What Was Learned
At first our group thought the best prototype to further pursue would be prototype one, but after a lengthy discussion we concluded that combining prototypes one and two might be the best design idea. Both designs alone would be costly products, which means combining the two would make the product even more expensive, but it will keep the cat restrained during veterinary visits while also keeping them distracted.
Ideation
Based on our collective interviews, we were able to generate some ideas to improve the cat carrier.
Prototypes
We created a total of three different kinds of prototypes that could potentially help with the travel process for cats in cat carriers. We then evaluated the strengths of these designs as well as their weakness.
